Building rubble recycling

K+S Baustoffrecycling GmbH is a wholly owned subsidiary company of K+S Entsorgung GmbH. At our plant to the east of Hanover, at Sehnde, uncontaminated and low-contamination building rubble and soil is treated for reutilization. The treated material is mainly used for recultivation of the potash waste heap in Sehnde. In addition to this, treated building rubble is sold as a secondary building material for road building and underground workings.

The total capacity of the plant is several million tons, thus providing the optimum conditions for reutilization of large volumes. The good local infrastructure provides for delivery by rail, ship or road. Smaller quantities from small businesses and from private individuals are also welcome.

Building rubble recycling is also part of the overall concept of an ecologically ambitious pilot project. A fixed proportion of the volumes of soil and building rubble is used for the greening of the former tailingspile at Friedrichshall. The material is prepared using a special process and then placed on the heap, where it forms a covering layer that serves as the substrate on which plants can grow, making a further contribution to a better environment.
