Tipping backfill

UTV Bernburg

Tipping backfill is particularly suited for high mining caverns, and wastes with marginal contamination, such as

  • excavated soil,
  • drilling muds,
  • filter dusts from gas treatment residues from waste incineration plants or
  • incinerated clearing sludges.

Reutilisation process

  • In an above-ground plant the wastes are processed into a special mining backfill mixture.
  • Via a fallpipe they are then transported underground, and are deposited in the caverns by dump trucks.
  • They are then covered with salt.
  • Big bags are used as components in bulk back-filling or stacked in residual cavities through stacking backfill.

Reutilisation process

  • Wastes delivered by silo lorries are transshipped in stationary silos.
  • In a closed system the wastes are automatically bagged.
  • The wastes are transported underground in containers.
  • There, they are deposited in the caverns.
