Salt slag recycling

REKAL®-plant

At the REKAL®-plant in Wunstorf near Hanover we process salt slags from secondary aluminium production, in a multiple-stage, energy-efficient process. All slag components are reutilised; there are no residues.

Delivery: by truck
Beginning of operation of the REKAL®-plant: 1995
Annual capacity: 100,000 tons

Scrap-recycling

We recover the aluminium contained in the slags and return them to our customers. Additionally, ammonium sulphate and potassium chloride are recovered.

Recultivation of tailings piles

In a patented process, a substrate made of various slag components is used as the basis for greening the potash tailings pile of the Sigmundshall facility.
